I’ve always used JR equipment. Recently, my 9503 stopped binding to new receivers. Tony Stillman thinks it’s an issue with the firmware and can’t be fixed. So, I was talked into buying the latest, greatest Taranis for the programming flexibility and range/ latency prowess. It’s a little different, but I have been able to navigate it pretty well. They (Archer) have a 10 channel receiver designed for large scale gas engine planes, Dual power plugs, vibration resistance, etc. when I went to pick up my plane ( Pilot RC 42% Edge), the guy I bought it from made the comment that my plan to use the Taranis was a bit dubious because, it was not “first quality”. I don’t want to lose this plane because of an avoidable decision.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

9503 is an older model. I own 1 that is still solid (knock on wood).

I have a couple Futaba for a few Glow and a few electrics. BUT JR is all I trust on my big planes! But plenty of guys will reverse that statement Futaba/JR and stand on the winners podiums.

Great comments, both. I fully agree with both. But my question is, Is the Taranis a POJ, or can it be trusted?

Thanks, Mike. After all the research I’ve done, I’m going to give the Taranis a chance. It’s been really difficult for me to learn to navigate the OpenTX and Archer receivers, but its beginning to make sense.
just in case, how much for the 12X?

The 12X is still my primary transmitter and I absolutley still LOVE IT! And I have a JR TR44 that new builds are moving to. To me, nothing is a straight forward as the JR's. I have a few Futabas and they are good and no issues. But I found for me the JR's were easier to navigate.

Steve, it pretty much kills me, but I’ll let it go for $350. Comes with case, manuals, wall wart charger; and has a 2500 Mah battery . If you are interested, I also have a JR 1221 receiver with three satellites that I can add for a total of $400 plus shipping. If interested, just let me know..Thanks
