  • 2021 South Central IMAC Contest Info

2020 has changed everything. Every year typically has a few defining moments, but the past 10 months have contained so many world changing outlooks. It is as if we are in a simulation that is running every possible scenario. However, the South Central Region was blessed with eight contests, which three where new! I would like to thank Rich for the hand off at Sherman those will be big shoes to fill. With Rich and I working on the schedule together for 2021Judging school will be in Sherman, Tx. since it is centrally located in the region and would like feedback on these three dates in March. 03/06-07 03/13-14 03/20-21.
Also would anyone be interested in a skills clinic?

Well said Amanda. All those judging schools dates seem fine for me. And I am always looking for ways to improve.

I am good with those dates, the later the date the better the possibility of some warmth!

I am with Rich. Later is better chance of having Practical's. But when a date is landed on I will get with VP of club and see about the use of the church. Different than one we have been using but also in Sherman.

The dates are all good with me. I agree with the later the better with one thought, what is the earliest contest date that we are looking for? Just food for thought. Also, early March can bring some nasty weather to the Kansas people for travel.

So I spoke to VP of club and the church we now use for meetings only has a room that would fit maybe 10 students for school. The church sustained quite a bit of water damage and only the necessary rooms have been repaired for use. Daniel Powell is going to check with the Sherman Library to see if we could use their meeting room. It apparently has a projector and screen and might be just right.

I’m looking forward to flying IMAC in 2021. Amanda, what would be covered in a “skills clinic”? Being that I’ll be pretty new at all this any additional help would be appreciated.

Shaun, I will help Amanda out here.

A Judging School will go over what the judges are looking for for each of the maneuvers. This is very useful in getting a clue on how you need to fly the maneuvers to maximize your scores. But, it doesn't talk about HOW to fly those maneuvers.

The Skills Clinic is designed to talk about Plane Setup, How to fly maneuvers, How to Practice and answer specific questions. There is also usually practical practice and coaching.

                    Hope this answers your question.

I look forward to seeing everyone out at the field!

A skills clinic would be awesome. Dan has been helping me set up my planes, but any and all knowledge would be appreciated.
I went to a judging school once. But it was 11-12 years ago. I’m sure a lot has changed since then.

RC Barnstormers Aerobatic Fun Fly - May 15-16, 2021

                          Hello all,

Just a quick reminder. Yes it is next weekend. The long range weather looks good. Temperatures between 79-81 oF. Finally close to 80 oF. Wind between 10-20 mph but it is too early to forecast. If windy we plan to train in windy or better yet "real contest conditions". Wind direction is not a big issue because we have two runways. Looks like we are going to have at least 200-300 years of RC pilots experience helping each other out. You still have time to get your plane ready. Bring your questions and we will try to help you. The idea is to practice and get ready for contest season.

If you need more information I am attaching the flyer. Please le me know if you have any questions,

                          Vicente "Vince" Bortone

                            Hello all,

Just to let you know that the R/C Barnstormers Aerobatic Fun Fly is going to be moved to following weekend because chance of rain is high. Let me know if you have questions.

                            Thanks,

Amanda Darling should mark as "Canceled" on SC Page for any who do not frequent the forums. Also a Facebook push.
