  • IMAC Nats Cancelled

The IMAC Board has met and discussed it's participation in the AMA Nats this year. With the consideration of the Members and the anticipated lack of participation, it was decided that the IMAC Organization will not participate in the AMA Nats this year. This will allow the focus of its resources and people to local and Regional events that members would be more likely to be able to attend. It is unfortunate that the circumstances require this, the BOD Unanimously felt that this was the correct decision and that making that decision now would allow for members to cancel existing plans for Nats and for Regions to organize some local and regional events.

Please understand that "the AMA Nationals and the Executive Council has sole authority over the Nationals and will make a final decision by June 10." So, it is feasible there could be something held solely by the AMA.

So, you now are on notice that you need to start making plans on being there next year which should be a BLOW-OUT contest!

So I was on the AMA site and saw a Nats 2020 Update - not that I am going to go in any case, but does the following mean if another CD steps up there could be an IMAC Nat's ?

"Although some Special Interest Groups such as NFFS, NSRCA, IMAC, and NASA are not participating in Nats this year, the Executive Council’s vote on 6/10 did not officially cancel those particular events. Other contest directors have approached AMA and are being considered to manage those events during Nats. You are welcome to register for any Nats event up through 06/26, but if an event organizer or contest director does not step up to host your particular event, AMA will fully refund your money and not host that portion of the Nats."

i just saw that as well, I honestly can’t believe they are doing this. It’s a slap in the face to the sigs.

After the phone call on Friday, I think it would be unlikely they would let someone hold it. They know how we feel. Today is the last day of registration, so it will be moot soon.

Not sure what was said, but it seems to have had an impact:
AMA looks forward to hosting a fun and safe Nats this year at the International Aeromodeling Center (IAC)! Today, we have new developments to announce for Nats 2020.
