All,
What is the status on the NATs for this year. I have heard AMA plans to make an announcement in June. Does IMAC plan to make an announcement sooner than this date? What are the numbers looking like to having a NATs this year?
Yes, AMA wants to make an announcement on June 10th. I personally think that is a little late, but remember Nats is an AMA contest. We currently have 7 pilots, but with the uncertainty I don't think that is an indication, because you don't know if the registered pilots can still make it and if people are waiting for the announcement.
I do not know the correct answer, other than I know a lot of people are struggling because of this situation. Not only medically, but financially and some people were required to use vacation t prevent the loss of income.
If we do have it, we are certain that it will be a limited contest.
I hope we are all doing well. In the South Central we are discussing the possibilities of having a contest one day! We will see. I have hear from my counterpart in the NSRCA (Pattern) who was in charge of their Nats for them and he has informed me that they have cancelled the Pattern Nats. They were scheduled to have their event the week before us.
So, I need to know if we held Nats and AMA decides to hold Nats (due to be announced June 10th) is your situation such that you would come. This is obviously not a commitment, but please be honest and let us know as best you can if you would. This is not an insignificant expenditure and we do not want to spend the money if no one will be there to take advantage of it.
I will blast an email to US and Latin American Members with the question. I will link this forum thread and ask everyone to post here, so that all will be informed.
THIS IS NOT A DEBATE. ALL OFF-TOPIC OR INAPPROPRIATE (MY CALL) REMARKS WILL BE REMOVED.
I would like to attend. But have not flown Sportsman yet and that number of unknowns my first time out might be too much given so little practice time so far this year and no contests to warm up up in. Plus our club IMAC is following weekend. So a small chance I would be there in Sportsman, would also be tempted to come and watch just for Sunday and Monday.
Regrettably I will not be attending this year. Being on the other side of the northern border complicates things. The border is presently closed and might be open by June or July, however we would likely still be subject to a 14 day isolation upon return which would seriously compromise other (hopeful) plans this summer. Going to be tough missing my US friends this year.
